It’s worse today. Now we’ve got a supreme court justice who finds no constitutional barrier to torture (Uhh, what?), and Darth Cheney simply brushed aside any consideration of the 26 innocent people we tortured (one of whom we killed) as being unimportant collateral casualties.
So much for the myth of American exceptionalism.
Christ. At what point will Cheney, Bush and friends be afraid to leave the country for fear they’ll face war crimes prosecution?
Trying to articulate my disgust, shame, and disbelief, I can come no closer than the eloquent yet fatalistic outrage expressed by David Simon, that inexaustible lion of liberalism:
